Weddings and receptions
Worth the trip: home cooking rather than a banquet menu.
Metro Vancouver
About an hour and ten minutes west of our kitchen
Yes. Vancouver is our longest run, roughly 70 kilometres and about an hour and ten minutes from our Abbotsford kitchen, so Middle Eastern and Armenian catering here suits larger planned events: weddings, corporate functions and significant family celebrations. Mezze travels well, which is what makes the trip work.
A mezze table plus charcoal grilled mains, delivered set up and ready to serve, or collected from our Abbotsford kitchen. Event rooms, cultural halls and larger private venues, with loading, parking and a fixed start time to plan around.
Vancouver is the furthest we travel, and we would rather set expectations properly than oversell it. From Abbotsford it is roughly seventy kilometres west on Highway 1, about an hour and ten minutes in reasonable conditions and meaningfully longer if the highway is not cooperating. This is a planned catering trip, not a quick drop off.
That said, it is worth doing for the right event. A family kitchen cooking Armenian and Syrian food from scratch is a different proposition from a large commercial caterer working through a standard banquet menu, and for a wedding or a significant family celebration that difference is the entire point. Guests notice food that tastes like someone cooked it rather than assembled it.
What makes it practical is that mezze travels well by design. This is food built by people who carried it to gatherings, and it does not depend on arriving thirty seconds out of the oven. Dips, salads, bread, rice and grilled mains hold their character over a drive in a way that plated restaurant food simply does not. We plan the timing carefully and we always build in room for traffic.
Not on the list is not the same as not possible. Tell us the address when you call and we will be straight about it. The full picture of how we work is on our catering page.
Our longest run at about an hour and ten minutes, more in traffic. Suited to larger planned events rather than small drop offs. We will be honest on the phone about whether your event makes sense for us.
| Detail | For Vancouver |
|---|---|
| Drive from our Abbotsford kitchen | About an hour and ten minutes, approximately, and longer whenever the highway is busy. |
| Route we take | West on Highway 1 the whole way, roughly 70 kilometres, then into the city grid at the end. |
| Pickup instead of delivery | No. At this distance pickup is not a serious option, and we would not suggest it. |
| Notice that suits this city | Several months, and more for a summer wedding date. This is the trip that needs the most planning of the nine. |
| Event sizes this distance suits | Larger planned events. We will say plainly if a small Vancouver drop off is not a good use of your money or our day. |
| Where Vancouver events usually happen | Event rooms, cultural halls and larger private venues, with loading, parking and a fixed start time to plan around. |
What we cater here
Mostly these four. Anything built around a shared table works, because a mezze spread scales by adding trays rather than re-planning the menu.
Worth the trip: home cooking rather than a banquet menu.
Planned company events where the food is meant to be memorable.
Shared-platter spreads for a full room.
Armenian, Syrian and Middle Eastern food cooked by a family that grew up on it.
We deliver it set up and ready to serve, or you collect it from our Abbotsford kitchen at no extra cost. No. At this distance pickup is not a serious option, and we would not suggest it.
Everything on our menu can be ordered as a catering spread: charcoal grilled kabab and shish tawook, toshka, kibbe, rice, tabouli and Armenian salad, warm bread, and dips by the half kilo. If you are still working out quantities, our guide to planning food for 20, 50 or 100 guests does the math with you.
Before you call
Yes, though it is our longest trip at roughly an hour and ten minutes from our Abbotsford kitchen. It suits larger planned events like weddings, corporate functions and significant family celebrations. Call us with your date, guest count and venue and we will tell you honestly whether we are the right choice.
For a small casual drop off, probably not, and we will say so. For a wedding or a celebration where the food is meant to be remembered, the difference between a family cooking from scratch and a large operation running a standard banquet menu is exactly what you are paying for. That is the case where the drive earns itself.
This particular food does, because it was built for it. Mezze, dips, salads, bread, rice and grilled mains were designed by people who carried them to gatherings, and they hold their character over a drive far better than plated restaurant food. We plan the timing backwards from your serving time with traffic built in.
It depends on your guest count, how much of the spread is grilled mains versus mezze, and whether you want drop off or more help on the day. We would rather talk it through on the phone than post a number that fits nobody. Call us with your headcount and occasion and we will walk you through it plainly.
These are the pieces that answer the questions Vancouver customers ask most, written before you spend money rather than after.
